Kaiser Pharmaceutical Statement: Pesticide
In the wake of the recent concerns over pesticides found in Chinese herbs, Kaiser
Pharmaceutical (KP) would like to take this opportunity to share some insight on this matter.
The issue of pesticide contamination has always been a great concern to our industry. In recent years, we have observed a continued trend in the increased level of pesticides in certain herbs. This may be contributed through several factors, such as the growing global demand for herbal products, reduction in suitable farmlands due to environmental impacts, or even passive/indirect contamination from air, water, and/or soil.
As the No.1 herbal products exporter in Taiwan with an internationally recognized operation, KP understands the importance in the safety of our products in which our corporate reputation relies upon. For this reason, we take great seriousness in controlling the safety and compliance of our products in accordance to various international regulating bodies.
For more than a decade, KP has achieved this by implementing and refining the following multi-level pesticide screening system:
RAW MATERIAL: Consistent screening of incoming raw materials through the use of advanced instruments and equipment such as GC-MS/MS, and LC-MS/MS, performed at our in-house ISO 17025 certified laboratories. As a result, only the cleanest herbal materials are accepted into our inventory for production.
PRODUCTION: In our PICIS GMP certified facilities, equipment is thoroughly cleaned for every batch of production, and the processing flow is in a single direction to eliminate any potential risk of cross-contamination. With our strict regulating and monitoring procedures, the possibility of contamination from foreign matters throughout our manufacturing process is minimized.
FINISHED PRODUCT: As a final measure, all of our finished products are regularly tested by ISO 17025 certified third party laboratories to ensure repeatable and trustworthy results.
Based on the data collected from our analytical results, we are able to ascertain that the majority of Chinese herbs present little to no risk of contamination, allowing us to focus our efforts on select groups of herbs that are known to be of higher risk. With this multi-level system in place, we are able to make certain that our products are of the utmost safety.
With the numerous regulations set forth by different governments worldwide, there is not one government regulation we could follow to guarantee compliance in all regions. Therefore, we allocate our in-house resources to cross-reference the main guidelines, including those from Europe and U.S.; together they encompass the most comprehensive and stringent pesticide specifications available on Chinese herbs. This way, we can best ensure our finished products conform to local regulations in all importing countries.
