Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM):

TCM is the general term for the style of acupuncture which most people practice. There are a broad range of techniques and treatment protocols used including Yin-yang and Five Element theories. With so many choices, we will design a protocol specifically for you.

Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest forms of healing. We can trace it back over 2500 years to ancient China where it continues to be a primary source of medical treatment today.

The general theory of acupuncture is based on patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body along 14 primary pathways essential for health.

When Qi becomes blocked, people become sick or experience pain. Acupuncture corrects the Qi flow imbalance, restoring harmony in the body.

Western medicine does not understand Qi, but studies show that acupuncture stimulated the body’s natural protective and pain-relieving systems, increases brain activity and boosts the immune system.

Japanese Acupuncture:

Japanese Acupuncture is a style of acupuncture which requires additional training above and beyond general TCM Theory and Practice. The techniques within Japanese acupuncture are generally aimed at using the least amount of stimulation to create the greatest effect. To contrast with TCM, Japanese acupuncture typically uses thinner needles, less points and less stimulation by using more shallow needle insertions even to the point of just touching the needle to the skin. Additionally, while not entirely unique to Japanese acupuncture, practitioners tend to use the abdomen as a diagnostic tool more often than other styles of acupuncture.

Chinese Herbal Medicine:

CHM seeks primarily to nourish the body and correct internal imbalance, thus encouraging a self-healing process.

Herbs are prescribed in combinations that balance each other, therefore they increase efficacy, enhance safety and are less likely to cause side-effects.    (For more info, click here)

Zero Balancing:

Zero Balancing (ZB) is a hands-on body/mind therapy that balances body energy with body structure through touch. It combines an Eastern view of energy with a Western view of medicine and science. It is a non-diagnostic system of healing that sees no division between body, mind and spirit.

Moxibustion:

Moxibustion is used to warm up acupuncture points or specific problem areas to hasten the healing process. This treatment uses an herb called ‘mugwort” and it is burned on a needle, on protected skin, on salt or on a piece of ginger.

Auricular Acupuncture:

Auricular Acupuncture may be considered both an adjunctive technique and a specialty area. Auricular acupuncture uses the ears as a representation of the entire body. By diagnosing with and treating the ears, one can treat any conditions anywhere in the body, including psychological issues. One area where Auricular acupuncture is used extensively is in drug and alcohol detox centers where the NADA Protocol is used to help people deal with addictions.
