Allergies:

Wei Qi (pronounced “way chee”) is similar to the western concept of the immune system as its purpose is to defend the body against foreign invaders. Acupuncture and TCM will reduce or eliminate the symptoms and signs of allergies while addressing the root cause and underlying imbalance effecting the quality and quantity of Wei Qi.

Depression:

When we are physically and emotionally balanced, we tend to bounce back from feelings of sadness, discouragement and hopelessness. It is known that the physical body and the emotional state are inseparable. When these feelings and emotions become persistent our internal environment becomes disrupted and leads to stagnant or depressed Qi. Through a complete history and diagnostic evaluation, we will find and treat this imbalance in Qi.

Fertility:

Researchers at Cornell concluded Acupuncture helps to normalize hormone and endocrine systems that regulate ovulation, regulate the menstrual cycle, increase blood flow to the uterus and reduce anxiety and stress which are significant to becoming pregnant. Acupuncture used  during pregnancy and childbirth have proven to relieve nausea, vomiting, pain during labor and the duration of labor.

Fibromyalgia:

Fibromyalgia is the 2nd most common rheumatic disorder in the US. The pain, fatigue, stiffness, aches, sleeplessness, intestinal trouble and muscle tenderness are symptoms of Liver, Spleen, and/or Heart system disharmony in most cases. This does not mean the actual organs  have a problem, but that the Meridians and in the Chinese medical functions are out of balance. Acupuncture treats the  Liver organ system which will nourish the tendons, the Spleen organ system to combat fatigue, digestive troubles and/or the Heart organ system to treat symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, palpitations and emotional unrest.

Headaches:

Headaches range from mild head pain to severe migraines. We tend to reach for drugs to relieve headaches but this only addresses the pain and not the underlying root of the problem. Over time, drugs will cause unwanted and harmful side effects. Acupuncture looks to the root cause of headaches by looking at the whole person first. The specific symptoms, triggers, time of day and location of the headache are diagnosed as well as the personal data including stress level, emotional health, social activities, diet, trauma and pregnancy. Imbalances are treated according to your specific symptoms and a treatment plan which will lead you to a healthier, pain-free lifestyle.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome:

When the intestines lose their ability to efficiently move their contents, IBS symptoms occur such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, headache, fatigue, depression, poor concentration, “foggy” head and anxiety. Weak Spleen, Kidney and/or Liver organ systems may cause symptoms of IBS. The Spleen organ system is in charge of digestion and converting food and liquid into blood which fuels the body giving you energy. Liver and Kidney system imbalances should also  be evaluated through a details symptom list as each have their unique characteristics.

Menopause:

Menopause causes a woman's body chemistry to change. This shift in hormonal balance can cause imbalances deep within the body and if left unchecked, will result in the variety of symptoms we normally associate with a Western diagnosis of menopause. Estrogen is similar to what acupuncturists call Jing Qi. As we age, Jing Qi is drained which cause imbalance in our  Organ Systems. Another contributing factor is the imbalance of Yin and Yang energies, where the cooling properties of Yin becomes weak leading to night sweats, palpitations, hot flashes and insomnia. We will first determine where the energy has changed and which organ system(s) have become unbalanced. Various treatments will help correct these imbalances such as acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, mediation, Qi Gong and diet.

Pain:

Whether from injury, illness or an unknown cause, pain in a warning sign. People tend to cover up pain by ignoring or medicating it. This only acts to “hit the snooze button” and the underlying problem is always there. Getting to the root of the pain is essential. Qi (pronounced “chee”) flows through the body on pathways called Meridians. Meridians are like the rivers that bring water, nourishment and life to the lands, plants and people around it. As long as these Meridians (pathways) are flowing freely, Qi brings nourishment to every joint, muscle, organ and cell in the body. Similarly, a blockage in the flow of Qi over time will cause your body to become weakened bring about imbalances and a variety of symptoms including pain and disease. Stress:

Stress is the body’s natural response to the demands we place on it. Stress can be both healthy and unhealthy. Healthy stress includes exercise, adequate rest, positive thinking and a natural responses to emergency situations. Unfortunately, modern day stressors are more frequent, more constant and much more higher. This excess stress is detrimental to our health and physically changes our bodies. Stress depletes our nervous system, kidneys, adrenal glands, spleen, lymphatic system, lowering our immune system. Stress causes disease, we all know that, but we don't change our habits.
